On Thursday, I received the first fifty County Durham flags from World Flag Shop The flags were kindly donated by the Association of British Counties . The first 25 are to thank those who have helped to establish the flag. The remaining 25 will be available free to those living in County Durham, be this Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Hartlepool or anywhere else between the River Tees and the River Tyne, via the competition below.
Today, I was privileged to witness James Moffatt, who along with his daughters Katie and Holly designed the flag, fly it from the highest point of County Durham, Burnhope Seat for the first time. This flag will now be given to Chilton Primary School, the school which Katie and Holly attended.
Question: “How will you use your County Durham flag?
The competition is open to all those who live in County Durham and answer the above question. To enter please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org your answer and name and address. I will then select the 25 which I consider to be the most deserving answers. These entrants will receive a free County Durham flag. Entries will close at 17.00 on Friday 6 December.
Winners will also be invited to send me a photo of their flag flying to appear in a gallery on County Durham Flag
