Yesterday it was my pleasure to attend the launch of Cuthbert’s Cross, a real ale brewed by the Yard of Ale Brewing Company at The Surtees Arms, Ferryhill Station, County Durham. The golden ale was produced to celebrate County Durham day on March 20th and the life of St. Cuthbert.
James Moffat, who with the help of his daughters Katie and Holly designed the County Durham flag, also attended with his friends from Chilton.
If you enjoy great real ale in a very welcoming and clean pub I highly recommend a visit to the Surtees Arms. Those who are fortunate to go to the Surtees Arms will not need me to tell them why they have won so many awards. Cuthbert’s Cross will be available in numerous pubs across County Durham on County Durham day. I am also hearing rumours of it being bottled and available via mail order.
