Historic County Flags Day

Historic County Flags Day is Wednesday 23rd July 2014. A celebration of the nation’s historic counties through the flying of Flags. This date was chosen because it is the anniversary of the creation of the flag of Devon in 2002, which started the momentum of the modern concept of a county flag.

This will give even more reason for us Yorkshire folk to fly the Yorkshire Flag for over two weeks to celebrate not only Yorkshire Day on August 1st but also Historic County Flags Day on Wednesday 23rd July. It would be great to see the true Yorkshire flags flying.

The concept and date was an initiative of the Association of British Counties which has been endorsed by the Flag Institute and the Department for Communities & Local Government.
