It came to my attention that Lincolnshire County Council are paying out regular amounts of compensation to motorists whose cars have been damaged by pot holes. Under the Freedom of Information Act I requested “any information held with regards payments made to motorists for damage to vehicles caused by pot holes?
This to include:
- Number of vehicles damaged by pot holes for each of the past six years and
- The total amount paid to all motorists for each of the past six years.”
Response from Lincolnshire County Council’s Environment and Economy Directorate

This is 3,709 accidents caused by LCC failing to fulfil their legal duty. This is over 600 accidents per year or 50 per month.
Are LCC waiting for motorists, their passengers or pedestrians to be killed before they conduct themselves in an appropriate manner?

Could I please refer you to https://andystrangeway.wordpress.com/2015/01/17/lcc-pot-hole-scandal/
I would like to register a complaint against LCC for causing over 600 accidents per year.
Could you please inform me when LCC intend to fulfil their legal requirement to prevent these accidents or do we need to wait for people to be killed before action is taken?
