ERYC Director Misleads Cabinet and Public

In Alterations To Taxi Rank, Railway Street, Pocklington – Consultation Exercise – Cabinet Nigel Leighton, East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) Director of Environment and Neighbourhood Services states:

“There are no equality implications”

Nigel Leighton

Yesterday, Tracey Tomlinson, Democratic Services Officer, ERYC responding to my FOI request for the Equality Impact Assessment Nigel is referring to stated:

“You are asking for a copy of a document that does not exist therefore this cannot be provided to you. You may be of the belief that an EIA (Equality Impact Assessment) will have been carried out but this is not the case.”

Tracey confirmed that Nigel has misled the Cabinet and the public by stating that there are no equality implications. Of course there are, to those in wheelchairs.

In addition ERYC have wasted tax payers resources on a pointless consultation due to Nigels misleading statement.

Subject: Complaint – Nigel Leighton

Dear Sir/Madam,

Could I please refer you to

As Nigel Leighton has clearly misled the Cabinet and the public, by his false unsubstantiated statement that there are no equality implications, I would like to register a formal complaint against Nigel.

In addition, actions must not be undertaken as a result of the consultation without an EIA being carried out.

Kindest Regards,

Andy Strangeway
